Join the Backyard Habitat Certification Program for our 1st Annual Open Garden Event in Gresham.

Have you ever wondered what’s going on behind the scenes in one of those “certified backyard habitats”? Want to see excellent and diverse examples of how others design and combine native and ornamental plants into gorgeous gardens? Now's your chance!

On Sunday, July 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., join the Backyard Habitat Certification Program for our 1st Annual Open Garden Event in Gresham. We are kicking off this event with a gorgeous yard that’s a true habitat gem. This gold-certified garden features a fun mix of conditions, native plants at all five “canopy layers”, including over 100 different species! In the sunny front yard, they replaced half the lawn with a pollinator garden, which has nectar-rich flowers blooming from February to October and is currently abuzz with native pollinators and honeybees alike. The other half is a water garden with red-legged frogs, fish, and salamanders that utilize this oasis. The backyard is a sunny, dry hillside with fruit trees and a wildflower meadow (still under development), plus a shady hillside and ravine with a seasonal wetland.

This open garden event is FREE, and open to the public, but registration is required

You can register here. The exact address of the open garden will be emailed to you upon registration.
