Final Chance to Ensure Portland’s Future is Green

Portland City Council will be taking its final round of public testimony for amendments to the Central City Plan 2035, a plan that features new environmental policies and exciting green initiatives including one of the strongest green roof mandates in the country, new innovative bird-friendly building guidelines, and more. Let City Council know that you want them to adopt the package of environmental policies in the Central City Plan to ensure a green future for Portland.

Make your voice heard! On January 18, Portland City Council will be taking its final round of public testimony for amendments to the Central City Plan 2035, a plan that will guide the development of the central core of the city for decades to come.

The draft plan features new environmental policies and exciting green initiatives, including one of the strongest green roof mandates in the country, new innovative bird-friendly building guidelines, as well as council direction to write new comprehensive policies to decrease light pollution and increase wildlife habitat along the Willamette River.

Portland Audubon has played a key role in getting these programs in front of City Council, and now we need your help to ensure that these new policies are adopted. You can view our full comments here.

The amendments also include one huge problem---they support a $450 million expansion of I-5 which will do nothing to alleviate congestion but will waste hundreds of millions of dollars. It is important to tell the city to stop this boondoggle now and instead support congestion pricing.

Please see instructions below to submit comments or attend the hearing to let City Council know that you want them to adopt the package of environmental policies in the Central City Plan.
