Oregon Senate votes to phase out fire retardant

A bill championed by Willamette Riverkeeper and the Audubon Society of Portland was passed by the Oregon Senate on March 24. The bill phases out most uses of decabrominated diphenyl ether, classified as a possible human carcinogen, by Jan. 1, 2011. The bill now goes to the Oregon House for consideration.
