The Portland French School, in association with the Audubon Society of Portland, received Backyard Habitat Certification on school grounds

The
Portland French School (PFS) Middle School requires students to become
actively engaged in supporting community projects and promoting global
citizenship. Among the recent activities undertaken by the PFS Middle
School were:
- Creation of a Roots & Shoots club, in association with the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI)
- Certification of a Backyard Habitat on school grounds, in association with the Audubon Society of Portland
- Fund-raising in association with "Pennies for Peace"
- Support of a chicken farming micro-industry in the Democratic Republic of Congo
