Conservationists receive Audubon Society fellowships
Two Portland conservationists have won $10,000 fellowships from the Audubon Society's national TogetherGreen program. Mary Coolidge, assistant conservation director of the Audubon Society of Portland, will use her award for Bird Safe Portland, an effort to reduce the number of bird strikes on windows.

Mary Coolidge, assistant conservation director of the Audubon Society of Portland, will use her award for Bird Safe Portland, an effort to reduce the number of bird strikes on windows.
"We also want to get more bird-friendly language in the city's planning guidelines and building construction," said Coolidge, among the 40 recipients for 2010 announced last week. "We've gained a lot of momentum in our efforts to start a Lights Out Portland program, and this funding will really help us continue."
