It was once said that Dave had ears that a symphony orchestra conductor would die for. His love of birds started in childhood and his decision to be a wildlife biologist was influenced by William L. Finley, Stanley G. Jewett, Ira N. Gabrielson, and other notables in the wildlife conservation movement.
Marshall’s colorful accounts of life as a career biologist provide glimpses into the inner-workings of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, our nation’s wildlife refuges, and the passage of the Endangered Species Act.
Historians, professional biologists, birders, World War II veterans who served in Europe, and many others will find the memoirs to be a treasure-trove of information. Interwoven are amazing details about cars and airplanes since the 1920s. This is a beautiful account of a remarkable man and his remarkable life.
