Hazel
Hazel the Northern Spotted Owl
Hazel was found on the ground in the Mt. Hood National Forest. She had injuries to both eyes consistent with some sort of impact, and her feathers were in terrible condition. Sadly, the damage to her primary feathers extended down to the feather follicles. After more than a year of effort, it was clear that she would never again regain the ability to fly.
Northern Spotted Owls were listed as Threatened under the Federal Endangered Species Act in 1990.
