What is Birdathon? Birdathon is the uniquely Audubon way to help protect Oregon’s native birds. Everyone is welcome - expert birders, casual birdwatchers and beginners can all find a trip that suits their fancy.
Like a walk-a-thon, Birdathon participants or "Birdathoners," collect pledges from friends, family members, and coworkers for finding and counting bird species. It’s a competitive and educational event for any level of birdwatcher, as well as for the family and friends who cheer them on! You can join our guided trips with experienced group leaders, organize your own trip that others can join, or head out on your own to count independently. You can also participate simply by making a Birdathon donation! Our biggest fundraiser of the year, all money raised by participants goes to protect native animals and their habitat through our conservation work, education programs, sanctuaries, and Wildlife Care Center.
Guided trips range from half day trips to 3-day "Gonzo" trips. All trips are led by birding experts and are a great way to make new friends and connect with other bird lovers, from kids to adults, beginners to experts.
Whether you’re a beginner or a veteran, Portland Audubon has a Birdathon trip for you – and if you don't see what you need, we'll help you organize!
A minimum raise of $35 per participant is requested, unless otherwise indicated.

Birdathon is open for business!
Birdathon now provides opportunities for businesses to participate through Event Sponsorship, thereby gaining visibility to thousands of people on our web pages and in the monthly Warbler. In addition, your business can form its own company team with leaders provided by Audubon Society of Portland.
