Audubon Birding Days - A series of weekend day trips - once a month, active, fun

Audubon Birding Days

Once a month, active, fun, weekend
$60 unless mentioned otherwise
Transportation included, bring your own food
Limited to 9 or 10 participants (1 van)

Oct 7, 2017 (5am – 8pm): Grays Harbor Bay. Leader: Stefan Schlick

Meet at the Delta Park/Vanport MAX station. We will bird wherever the birding is hot, either on the north side of the baty (Ocean Shores area) or the south side (Westport area). Our destinations will be dictated by the latest sightings. Birds we may look for include late shorebirds and passerines. The timing is also good for Lapland Longspur which stay only for a weeks in October.

Nov 12, 2017 (6am – 5pm): Bayocean Spit. Leader: Stefan Schlick

Meet at the Chevron gas station just north of the Glencoe Rd/North Plains exit off highway 26. The goal is to hike the full 8mi around Bayocean spit where we will pass through habitat such as estuary, rock jetty, dunes, spruce woods and outer beach. Weather is unpredictable this time of the year, so be prepared for anything. Birds could be plentiful, but you never know what the storms can bring in; there could even be a wreck of Red Phalarope easily viewed along the shoreline.
