Feb 21, 28 & March 7, 14 | Join Zebith Thalden in this workshop that will focus on the scientific illustration of insects.

Feb. 21, 28 & March 7, 14 (Wed), 6:30 – 9PM: Class held below Heron Hall

Carol Orange

This adult workshop will focus on the scientific illustration of beetles, butterflies, and other insects. The practice of drawing not only heightens the artists’ observation, but also results in a work of art that can beautify any living space. The emphasis in this workshop will be on conveying anatomical structure and creating aesthetically pleasing visual communication. Exercises will allow participants to practice drawing techniques as they work toward a finished piece. Specimens, magnifiers and drawing materials will be provided.

Instruction is geared to all levels and all participants will receive individual assistance.

Zebith Thalden is an instructor and nature illustrator. She has taught courses in drawing, woodworking, graphic design, copper-smithing, and outdoor education. She is also currently writing an instructional book on insect illustration for Timber Press. She received a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and a MFA in Interdisciplinary Studies, focusing on Painting & Entomology, from Goddard College.
