6th Annual Cape Perpetua Land-Sea Symposium

The Cape Perpetua Land-Sea Symposium is a community event aimed at promoting local stewardship efforts and raising awareness about current research being conducted within the Cape Perpetua nearshore and adjacent watersheds.

Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and the keynote begins at 5 p.m.

Join us for the 6th annual Cape Perpetua Land-Sea Symposium for an evening of stewardship, science, culture and fun! This is an annual community event is aimed at promoting local stewardship efforts and raising awareness about current research being conducted within the Cape Perpetua nearshore and adjacent watersheds.

This year's event will feature our keynote speaker Dr. Jack Barth, of Oregon State University, and  Executive Director of the Marine Studies Initiative (MSI) and Professor of Physics of Oceans and Atmospheres. Dr. Barth will discuss the latest research and policy efforts regarding Ocean Acidification and Hypoxia in Oregon.

Other presentations will include topics such as sea star wasting disease, human dimensions research in Oregon's marine reserves and fisheries by-catch reduction using hand-made nets. State Senator Arnie Roblan and Representative David Gomberg will open up the event with an introduction.  

This is a free event for all, but please RSVP.

Refreshments will be provided.
