Join us for our next Activist Night and learn more about an exciting ballot initiative that will be on this November’s ballot in Portland titled the Portland Climate Action and Community Benefits Initiative 2018! This initiative would place a 1% business license surcharge tax (not a sales tax) on corporations operating in Portland, which make over $1 billion nationally and $500,000 in Portland on an annual basis.

Funds would be used to promote implementation of the Portland Climate Action Plan in a way that supports social, economic and environmental justice, including the development of a diverse and well-trained workforce and contractor pool. Projects will be funded in the field of green infrastructure, energy efficiency, renewable energy, and sustainable urban agriculture. The initiative was conceived and is being led by community groups representing the city's people of color and low income households.
