100 Birds of Summer: Birds and Beers

Join Teresa Wicks, Bird Alliance of Oregon’s Eastern Oregon Field Coordinator for 100 Birds of Summer, a series of family and beginning birder-friendly programs connecting people to birds and nature. Over the course of the summer, we’ll aim to see 100 bird species, from forests to wetlands, and places in-between. But don’t be fooled, this series isn’t only for serious listers, we’re aiming to create community while exploring the birds and ecosystems that Harney County has to offer. Binoculars will be available.

Birds and Beers

Looking for a way to kick-off the holiday weekend? Join us on this relaxing evening bird walk. We’ll meet at the bathrooms at the Radar Hill OHV trails. From there we’ll walk up to three miles through juniper woodlands and shrub habitat, looking for shrub loving birds like Brewer’s Sparrows and Blue-gray Gnatcatchers. We’ll conclude our walk by 6:00, then head down the hill to Steens Mountain Brewing for some good food, beers, and good conversation.

Length: up to 3 miles.

Accessibility: This trail is packed soil with uneven surfaces. There will be some hills and possible steep inclines.
