100 Birds of Summer: Birds, Bikes, and Brews

Join Teresa Wicks, Bird Alliance of Oregon’s Eastern Oregon Field Coordinator for 100 Birds of Summer, a series of family and beginning birder-friendly programs connecting people to birds and nature. Over the course of the summer, we’ll aim to see 100 bird species, from forests to wetlands, and places in-between. But don’t be fooled, this series isn’t only for serious listers, we’re aiming to create community while exploring the birds and ecosystems that Harney County has to offer. Binoculars will be available.

Birds, Bikes, and Brews

Cycling fans rejoice! On this outing we’ll meet at Spark Collaborative Studios at 8:00. We’ll ride from there, south on Broadway, then ride a loop along Egan Rd, Hotchkiss, and the Harney Wildlife Parkway/Nature Trail. We’ll stop at the Fairgrounds to look for interesting waterfowl at the sewage ponds, and along Hotchkiss to look for Sandhill Crane colts. We’ll conclude our ride with coffee at Bella Java.

Length: 6-7 miles

Accessibility: This loop is mostly flat. The road portions of the loop have a narrow shoulder. The Nature Trail is graveled.
