Advanced Waterfowl Identification

Just in time for the return of millions of wintering waterfowl, this series of standalone classes provides everything you need to know to understand and identify the multitude of different Oregon waterfowl.

There are some pretty serious identification challenges for the waterfowl enthusiast. Females of many species look very similar, and a surprising number of our ducks and geese have “lookalikes” that can be difficult to tell apart. In this class, we’ll go beyond just color patterns to break down some of the other tools necessary to tell these birds apart, focusing on shape, behavior, and habitat so that you can confidently ID these birds on your own this winter.
