Birding By Ear: Winter Migrant Birds
Winter birding for songbirds can feel like a whole different discipline. Rather than watching a sharply plumaged bird sing from an exposed perch, we’re hoping to use chip notes and alarm calls to help us learn the identity of stubborn skulkers buried in the bush.
In this class, we’ll welcome back our winter migrants such as Fox Sparrow, Hermit Thrush, and Ruby-crowned Kinglet by reacquainting ourselves with their vocalizations.
Join Brodie for the accompanying field trip on November 4 to practice your birding-by-ear skills in the field.
