Amphibians & Reptiles: Beginner’s Guide to Herping with John Rakestraw

While birds may get all the attention, there is a host of other wildlife species literally underfoot. Some blend in with their environment, while others sport colors that rival the brightest warblers. This class will introduce you to the common frogs, salamanders, turtles, lizards, and snakes (herps) typically found in the Portland area. We will study the field marks and behaviors that help you identify each species. This class will also provide tips on finding and safely observing these fascinating animals.
