Tim started volunteering at Portland Audubon in 2006 and joined the staff full time in 2008. Before living in Oregon, Tim spent several years studying bison in Yellowstone, Burrowing Owls in NE Wyoming and Marbled Murrelets in the old growth forests of the Coast Range. Tim leads with a curious mind and playful spirit, sharing jokes and making sure each camper is seen. He strives to help campers understand the natural world around them and what makes the plants and animals so inspiring and worth protecting. Camps become community, with space for everyone to contribute, share, play and grow. When Tim isn’t leading camp he is either at home cooking and baking, spending time outside, mountaineering, swimming in alpine lakes, biking, and reading.
Tara has volunteered and worked with Portland Audubon in a variety of roles since 2015, but officially joined the Education Team in 2018. A teacher at heart, Tara is deeply committed to environmental education and believes that all people deserve a safe space to access the outdoors. She spends her days at work coordinating school programs and youth camps, managing the behind the scenes administration work in the department, and will occasionally teach a camp or two! Outside of work, you can find Tara birding all over the Pacific Northwest, soaking in hot springs, photographing wildlife, working on her Gold Certified Backyard Habitat, and spending time hiking with her husband and two cattledogs.
