Bird Journals: Surroundings and Settings *FULL*
*This is an in-person class to be held indoors at Portland Audubon following our current COVID guidelines. Proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test within 48 hours of class and masks are required.
For the timid but hopeful, the beginner, those who wish they could! Jude will give you the skills and the encouragement to enjoy filling your journal with colorful drawings, observations, and musings. Great for home and in the field. All you need are a few tips, a journal, a pen, a brush, and a little watercolor set! Relax, enjoy, and explore your style in this absolutely wonderful way to record the birds you see and love. No art experience is needed! Jude has taught beginners and beyond how to find enjoyment with nature journaling, for a long time! This is about finding joy, not about artistic perfection! You will be encouraged, amazed and excited, as you learn the skills that will begin your adventures.
Each class is self-contained, and different than the others, although we do continue the basic practice of connecting, observe, and interpret. Register for each class separately. Space is limited to 8 participants per session.
Surroundings and Settings
You’ll learn easy and beautiful ways to suggest sky, water, rocks, trees, grasses…whatever is around your birds. Pen and brushstrokes make it possible to create settings for them, without having to be over-detailed.
