The Basics of Bird Journaling: Quick Studies and Field Sketches
Practice noticing, and discover how to see shapes, postures, proportions, and angles more easily, and then draw those birds in your journal more effectively. Add a little watercolor to your page, and some writing, and you have a wonderful journal page.
No art experience is needed! Relaxation and awareness help you learn new ways of seeing, and then of drawing and using watercolor simply. For joy, not mastery! Keeping a bird journal is fun, easy, portable, and a creative relaxing way to record your experiences with birds, at home, or anywhere in the field in a more creative than “perfection” style. Each class has a different focus, and each class reviews some basics.
In this class, we will cover tips on how to get the gist fast, and enough to work well on the page. We will focus on a “Less is More” theme.
We will include work with the Portland Audubon’s Wildlife Ambassadors if weather permits.
Jude is a teacher, artist, and naturalist who loves nature journaling, and has invited and inspired many people to begin and continue this joyful creative process.
Register for each class separately.
Space is limited to 10 participants per session.
