Bird Journals for Beginners and Continuing Journalers – Elements of a Bird Journal Page
For the timid but hopeful, the beginner, those who wish they could! Jude will give you the skills and the encouragement to enjoy filling your journal with colorful drawings, observations, and musings. Great for home and in the field. All you need are a few tips, a journal, a pen, a brush, and a little watercolor set! Relax, enjoy, and explore your style in this absolutely wonderful way to record the birds you see and love. No art experience is needed! Jude has taught beginners and beyond how to find enjoyment with nature journaling, for a long time! This is about finding joy, not about artistic perfection! You will be encouraged, amazed and excited, as you learn the skills that will begin your adventures.
Each class is self-contained, and different than the others, although we do continue the basic practice of connecting, observe, and interpret. Register for each class separately.
Elements of a Bird Journal Page
It helps to have a sort of formula, for designing a journal page. We will learn a series of elements, and how to incorporate them, such as image, text, borders, color.
Trail Accessibility: We hope to hold this class inside at Portland Audubon but with the ever-changing nature of COVID we may need to hold the class outside. If the class is held outside, it will be in the Portland Audubon nursery area which is across the street from the Nature Store and main building. It will require a walk of about 400 meters up a moderate hill. It is a dirt trail and the ground below the tables and chairs is not even.
