Virtual Black Oystercatcher Community Science Training

Important changes due to COVID-19: Oregon Black Oystercatcher Project nest monitoring is currently moving forward under the following guidelines.

  • Only conduct nest monitoring on your own or with members of your immediate household.
  • If members of the public are encountered during the monitoring session, all social distancing policies will be adhered (remain at least 6 feet away, bring sanitizer/disinfectant with you and clean your hands before and after your survey)

_______

Black Oystercatchers are a striking and easily recognizable bird in which we share our coast. It is also a species of conservation concern because of its small population size and vulnerability to a variety of impacts. Our work with this bird is helping in or efforts to protect rocky shoreline habitats. Learn more about the Black Oystercatcher Project

If you would like to learn more about this amazing bird and are interested in helping with Bird Alliance of Oregon’s community science effort to monitor oystercatchers on the coast, consider attending this training. The training will cover Black Oystercatcher life history, conservation challenges they face, and instructions on how to participate in our nest monitoring program.

Our training this year is:  May 5 / 6 – 8 p.m.
