Field Trip: Birding the Central Coast
Join Dan van den Broek and Candace Larson on a two-day exploration of the Central Coast region of Oregon. From a seawatch at Boiler Bay to multiple bird walks from Newport to Waldport, we’ll seek out shorebirds and songbirds, divers and dabblers, and all that fall migration offers along this diverse and spacious section of the Oregon Coast.
You are responsible for your own transportation, meals and lodging, and we’ll provide the expert guiding. Please plan to book a place in Newport. This program is paired with a virtual class session to introduce you to the natural history and bird diversity to expect on our exciting, small group adventure.
This trip will involve a significant amount of walking on mostly flat and unpaved trails. We will travel slowly and stop frequently to look at birds and other wildlife. Total distance walking between 2-5 miles per day.
*Masks will be required. To participate in the outing, you must register for the class separately to participate in the field trip.
