Let’s Go Birding: Explore Wetlands! For Black, Indigenous, POC, Queer & Trans Communities

**This event is reserved for Black, Indigenous and People of Color and also reserved for the Queer & Trans Communities.**

Join Greg and Candace and we roam one of our favorite birding hot spots at Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve.  We’ll be seeking early spring migrants and late winter waterfowl, among the more than 150 bird species detected each year in this beautiful and diverse array of wetlands and woodlands along the Tualatin River.

Let’s Go Birding! Wild Diversity and Bird Alliance of Oregon are teaming up on a new year of fun outings in wild spaces throughout the Portland Metro area and beyond.  Learn the basics of bird ecology and identification from Bird Alliance of Oregon bird nerds and biologists Greg Smith and Candace Larson. Beginners welcome and binoculars available!

Accessibility: Trails are mostly unpaved with few obstructions and minimal elevation change. Our pace will be slow as we stop frequently to look for birds and other wildlife. Trails could be muddy in places depending on rain, total distance up to 3 miles.

Meeting Location: Leaven Community Center, 5431 NE 20th Ave
