Field Trip: Wapato Access Greenway on Sauvie Island

Join Erin to bird together at Wapato Access Greenway State Park along Virginia Lake on the western edge of Sauvie Island. This park contains rare oak savannah and an extensive wetland around Virginia Lake. The riparian deciduous woods at Wapato Access may contain some lingering migrant species, such as Purple Martin, Swainson’s Thrush, Wilson’s Warbler, and many other species typical to Sauvie Island.

  • Every level of experience and inexperience is more than welcome and celebrated on this morning program.
  • Meet at the Wapato Access Trailhead. No parking permit is required.
  • Please note that there are no restrooms at this location.
  • Bring water, snacks, and dress for the weather.
