Flycatchers

Flycatchers are skilled aerial hunters, snatching their insect prey from midair. While some species are flashy and easy to identify, others are notoriously difficult to tell apart. In this class we will look at the dozen flycatcher species typically found in the Portland area, learning how to distinguish each one by sight and sound. Local author and guide John Rakestraw will show you how to identify these birds by sight and sound as well by as posture and performance.
