Field Trip: Henry Hagg Lake
The beautiful, lush Henry Hagg Lake, set in the foothills of the Coast Range, is a scenic location in its own right, and it provides excellent opportunities for viewing various bird species throughout the area. Stops may include Eagle Point Rec Area, Tanner and Scoggins Creeks, Rec Area C, Sain Creek, and Elks Rec Area. Maybe we’ll get lucky and even encounter an American Dipper in the creeks that feed the lake, hear Ruffed Grouse drumming, Northern Pygmy-Owl tooting, or Mountain Quail “quarking” in the surrounding forest.
Please remember to bring binoculars, a scope (very helpful, if available), and appropriate layered clothing and boots for cool, possibly wet weather. Also, remember drinks and snacks/lunch given the duration of the trip!
