Go Lights Out 2022 Kickoff
Mark your calendars for the 7th annual Lights Out Portland happening Saturday, September 17, an event to kick off the peak of fall migration season when millions of birds will be passing over Oregon skies! Residential households and commercial buildings will dim their lighting in order to raise awareness about the impact of light pollution on migrating birds, about wasted energy in the form of light thrown up into the sky, and about preserving our ability to see stars from the city.
Building owners, businesses, and residents are encouraged to keep joining us from 11 p.m. to dawn each night through October 19 – the period during which peak numbers of birds will be moving through our airspace. A big thank you to participating iconic buildings including OMSI, City Hall, KOIN Tower, 1900 Building, Wells Fargo, East Portland Community Center, Mt Scott Community Center, SW Community Center, Matt Dishman Community Center, Charles Jordan Community Center, Lloyd 700, Lloyd Center Tower, Metro Regional Center, Portland Building, Oregon Convention Center, Montgomery Park, OHSU South Waterfront, 200 Market, 1201 Lloyd, and Multnomah County Central Courthouse.
