Watercolor Painting In-Person Class with Ronna: The Great Horned Owl
*This is an in-person art class.
Introducing a new series of in-person watercolor classes with Ronna Fujisawa, an experienced watercolor painter, art educator, and bird enthusiast. This class is appropriate for intermediate and ambitious beginners.
We would like to start off this series of in-person bird watercolor classes with the Great Horned Owl. This fierce predator will come alive with watercolor during this three-hour class. Come learn how to paint one of the most common owls in North America.
Ronna will demonstrate various watercolor techniques such as wet on wet, soft and hard edge, subtle value shifts, creating luminous grays and darks, and introduce her signature style of loosely painted watercolor.
The birds will be painted from photographs supplied by Ronna, as she explains the step-by-step process she has mastered in painting birds. In this three-hour class, each student will paint several studies and one final painting. There will be time at the end of each class to critique everyone’s work and to get supportive feedback from Ronna and other classmates.
Ronna strives to build an atmosphere of learning by encouraging students to take risks, showing support and encouragement, and working alongside the class to assist in the understanding of watercolor painting.
