Intermediate Birding by Ear: Forests with Brodie Cass Talbott
These intermediate classes with Brodie are the perfect way to sharpen your birding by ear skills! This 4-part series includes birds of Forests, Wetlands, East of the Cascades, and Mountains. Please register separately for each class.
In this virtual class, we’ll focus on forest bird vocalizations, building upon skills and techniques covered in the Beginning Birding by Ear series. Long description: Birding in our conifer forests can be challenging, with low light, and many birds remaining high in the canopy, so recognizing the vocalizations of our forest denizens is key to knowing what’s around. In this class, we’ll listen to the calls and songs of common forest birds in the Portland area, such as Wilson’s Warbler, Black-headed Grosbeak, and Pacific Wren, and learn some tips for remembering these sounds.
