*FULL* Intro to Backpacking (Sun-Fri)

This empowering trip will begin as participants travel to Portland Audubon’s very own Marmot Cabin located near Mt. Hood Oregon. The first two nights will be spent learning and practicing the basics of backpacking and outdoor survival skills in preparation to hit the trails.

In preparation for our expedition into the Mt. Hood Wilderness, we will learn how to plan a trip, pack our backpacks and plan meals. We will also learn and practice back-country skills such as Leave No Trace, basic first aid, survival skills, orienteering and back-country cooking. Once comfortable with our newfound skills, we will head out into the Mt. Hood wilderness on a predetermined route, hiking to Oval Lake.

Build strength, confidence and outdoor skills while taking in the views of mountain lakes and the cascade range. After spending a 2-3 days in the back-country we will return to Marmot for a final night as we celebrate our challenges, friendships and achievements of the week.

All transportation and food is provided. Participants provide their own camping gear.
