Monday Bird Song Walks: Bird Song for Newbies at Whitaker Ponds

Curious about birds? Brand new to birding? Consider yourself a beginner backyard birder? Then join us on this Bird Song Walk exclusively for newbie birders! On these Spring Monday mornings, we will be learning together, going slowly, and simply noticing birds and their many sounds. 

Whitaker Ponds is the perfect place to listen for our fav resident songbirds like the Song Sparrow, Bewick’s Wren, American Robin, Common Yellowthroat, and Spotted Towhee

Bring your coffee and birding excitement! Binoculars will be available.

Bird Song for Newbies occur every Monday, beginning April 3 and ending May 22. Walks are held from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. RSVP below!

Accessibility

Distance: up to 1 mile
Trail Tread & Width: Mostly Gravel road; some single track packed dirt (can be very muddy)
Elevation Changes: up to 10 ft.
Pacing: Slow w/ frequent stops.
Amenities: Single user Porta Potty. Parking lot on site.
Public Transit:TriMet bus #75 makes a stop at the corner of NE 47th Avenue and Columbia Blvd and visitors can walk north from there to the park entrance.
Meeting Location: Whitaker Ponds Nature Park. Under the gazebo.
