Nature Night: Traditional Lifeways of the Chinookans and Kalapuyans

Join David G. Lewis, PhD on a survey of the cultures and specializations of the tribes of Western Oregon and the connections to other regional tribes through kinship and trade, examining the Lower Chinook and Kalapuya tribal seasonal lifeways and how their environment became what it is today.

David G. Lewis, PhD is an educator and researcher with a public blog with over 400 articles about the tribes of western Oregon and what happened to them over the past 200 years. David Lives in Salem with his family and teaches at OSU in the Anthropology and Ethnic Studies programs. David is a member of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde and descended from the Santiam Kalapuya, Chinook and Takelma peoples of Western Oregon.
