Okanogan and the Waterville Plateau
Join Portland Audubon on a unique self-catering winter trip to Okanogan and the Waterville Plateau.
The Okanogan and Waterville Plateau in north-central WA state is the best area in the Pacific Northwest for winter specialties. We will be based out of Omak for four nights.
We’ll look for American Tree Sparrow, Bohemian Waxwing, Gray-crowned Rosy-Finch, Gray Partridge, Snowy Owl, Lapland Longspur, Sharp-tailed Grouse, Pine Grosbeak, Common Redpoll, Northern Goshawk, and Gyrfalcon.
Some of the birds we most likely will see are Northern Pygmy-Owl, Northern Saw-whet Owl, Golden Eagle, Prairie Falcon, Chukar, Northern Shrike, Rough-legged Hawk, Pygmy Nuthatch and Red Crossbill.
Rarities over the last 12 years of trips to the area have included White-winged Crossbill, Northern Hawk-Owl, Yellow-billed Loon and Great Gray Owl, but for those a lot of luck is required.
Come join us for five days of winter wonderland and fantastic birds that you will never forget!
