PCC Rock Creek Community Science Training

In 2019, Bird Alliance of Oregon and Clean Water Services began collaboration on a new community science project to document bird use of the PCC Rock Creek Floodplain, in order to monitor changes in bird composition and abundance as ecological enhancement activities progress and the site matures.  Volunteers collected one year of data for the project before Covid-19 closed campus and surveys were put on indefinitely on hold.  In good news, PCC is planning to re-open the campus beginning April, 2022, and we are excited to restart this community science project.

Join our PCC Rock Creek community science team and help us continue this valuable work.  A virtual training will be held Thursday, April 14 from 6-7 p.m., followed by a field orientation on Saturday, April 16, beginning at 8 a.m.. Supplemental bird walks along the route will be offered in the spring to help build identification skills for newer birders.  To sign up for the training, email Candace Larson at clarson@birdallianceoregon.org.
