Plein Air Watercolor Painting on Sauvie Island: Raccoon Point

*This is an in-person art class for intermediate and ambitious beginners.

Summer is here! Let’s head out to Sauvie Island. Come prepared with all your painting gear, and we’ll have some fun adventure watercolor painting at Raccoon Point. A beloved spot on Sauvie for bird watchers and plein air painters. We will set up an easel or a lawn chair and paint this glorious landscape!

One of the best ways to truly see and understand the beauty of the landscape is to paint outside (plein air). We will spend the day studying the landscape with watercolor as students learn the basics of setting up outdoors, simplifying compositions, mixing colors, and expressive brush strokes.

Location: Raccoon Point on Sauvie Island. Google directions. Take US-30 W/NW St Helens Rd to NW Sauvie Island Rd/NW Sauvie Island Bridge. Turn right onto NW Sauvie Island Rd/NW Sauvie Island Bridge. Continue to follow NW Sauvie Island Rd for 2.2 mi. Turn right onto NW Reeder Rd for 3.2 mi. The destination will be on the left.

Please dress appropriately for the weather and sun. Bring plenty of water, snacks, and lunch.

Limited to 10 participants.
