Raptors in Flight

September signals the start of one of the most fascinating visible migration spectacles in the country: southbound raptor flights. Trained hawkwatchers around the country carefully tally this two-month parade of various raptor species.

At the same time, amateurs watch with amazement at the experts’ ability to identify distant specks down to species and often age and sex. How do they do it?

In this class, we’ll break down identifying raptors by silhouette and flight style, allowing you to hone your skills for your favorite Hawkwatch location or enjoy raptors from your backyard.

This digital class would prepare you nicely for our Pacific Northwest Trip to Green Ridge September 23-24.
