Speak Up for the the Elliott State Forest

Attend the Meeting to Make Your Voice Heard!

Over the past several years we have fought successfully to stop illegal clearcut logging on the Elliott State Forest and to keep the state from selling the forest to private timber companies. The state is now exploring the possibility of transferring the Elliott State Forest to Oregon State University for management as a research forest.

This Tuesday, OSU will hold an open house in Portland to discuss their evolving plans. This is an important opportunity to speak-up for the Elliott and help ensure that OSU’s plans truly protect this amazing forest and the Marbled Murrelets, Northern Spotted Owls, and Coho Salmon who depend on them.

Talking Points

It is important that OSU hears that their plan needs to:

  • Protect mature forests, stream corridors and steep slopes
  • Substantially improve conditions for federally listed Marbled Murrelets, Northern Spotted Owls and Coho Salmon
  • Provide non-motorized recreational opportunities for the public
  • Provide clear and binding assurances that the forest will be managed for ecological health
  • Maintains the Elliott as a public forest

Thank you for standing up for the Elliott. Together we have stopped illegal logging and prevented the sale of the Elliott, and now we need to ensure that the path forward is truly protective of this amazing forest and the wildlife that depends on them.
