Tree Resolution at Portland City Council

In late 2019, Portland City Council voted to extend the sunset date of certain regulations passed in 2016 that strengthened tree preservation requirements (especially preservation of large sized trees) in development situations on private property. As part of that process, Bird Alliance of Oregon, the Portland Planning and Sustainability Commission (PSC) and the Urban Forestry Commission (UFC) made additional recommendations relating to tree preservation in development situations on private property.

City Council will now consider these recommendations and forward a resolution that sets a timeline for how these proposals will be shaped and when they will come back to council for a vote. The timeline currently proposed in the draft resolution is far too slow and unambitious. Click here to see what Bird Alliance of Oregon is specifically advocating for this resolution to include.

(The council session is time certain, which means the agenda item will not begin before the scheduled time)
