Bird Hike Location: Little Crater Lake | Meeting Location: Leaven Community Center, 5431 NE 20th Ave
Join Wild Diversity and Portland Audubon on a summer bird hike in this very special landscape on the east side of Mt. Hood. Little Crater Lake is a unique, turquoise pool formed by a volcanic artesian spring, surrounded by a meadow rich in birds and wildflowers.
Sam DeJarnett, Portland Audubon’s education animal coordinator and Candace Larson, Portland Audubon field biologist a invite you to explore this wondrous area. We’ll look for warblers, flycatchers and nighthawks in the meadow then hike through the adjacent forest to the edge of Timothy Lake, seeking woodpeckers and waterfowl. Beginners welcome, binoculars provided!

You’ll Need to Bring:
- Dress for a hike: comfortable shoes to hike in, warm layers, rain jacket/pants, warm gloves, warm hat as needed.
- Bring a packed lunch and snack as there will be no scheduled stops.
