Watercolor Painting with Ronna: The Cedar Waxwing
*This is a digital art class.
Colorful, graceful, and musical, birds easily capture our inspiration! Join this live, online class to paint alongside Ronna Fujisawa, an experienced watercolor painter, art educator, and bird enthusiast. You will learn about watercolor paint, basic drawing, painting techniques, and how to distinguish marks and colors.
This class will focus on the stunning Cedar Waxwing. With loose washes and gestural brushstrokes (action painting), we will closely look at the gradations of color and exquisite markings. The sleek Cedar Waxwing will come to life in watercolor as we see them sitting in fruit-bearing trees. This bird has beautiful coloring with subtle gradations of pale brown fading into the soft gray, pale yellow belly, a bright yellow tip on the tail, red waxy tips on the wings, and a prominent black mask. This natural beauty is the quintessential bird for watercolor painting.
Students can paint along with Ronna during this live class or work at their own pace with access to the recording of the zoom lesson after the session.
