Watercolor Painting In-Person: The Bohemian Waxwing *ONE SPOT LEFT*

Introducing in-person watercolor classes with Ronna Fujisawa, an experienced watercolor painter, art educator, and bird enthusiast. This class is appropriate for intermediate and ambitious beginners.
Beat the winter blues and come up to Bird Alliance of Oregon to paint the colorful Bohemian Waxwing, the nomadic avian wanderer. Did you know the red waxy spots on their secondary feathers come from eating red berries? Learn how to paint these spots and why watercolor is a perfect medium to capture the beautiful gradation of color and beautiful markings of the Bohemian Waxwing.
Ronna will demonstrate various watercolor techniques such as wet on wet, soft and hard edge, subtle value shifts, and creating luminous grays and darks. This is a great introduction to Ronna’s signature style of loosely painted watercolor.
The birds will be painted from photographs supplied by Ronna as she explains the step-by-step process she has mastered in painting birds. In this three-hour class, each student will paint several studies and one final painting. There will be time at the end of each class to critique everyone’s work and to get supportive feedback from Ronna and other classmates.
Ronna strives to build an atmosphere of learning by encouraging students to take risks, showing support and encouragement, and working alongside the class to assist in the understanding of watercolor painting.
