Field Trip: Beginning Waterfowl ID at Fernhill Wetlands with Brodie Cass Talbott

Visit one of the Portland area’s premiere wetlands to work on the basics of waterfowl ID. We’ll work with what we learned in the accompanying digital class and put that into practice, working as a team to identify the many ducks and geese that overwinter here. Along the way, we’ll keep an eye out for sparrows, lingering shorebirds, and raptors.

This field trip will focus on beginning ID, with a trip focusing on the more advanced aspects of waterfowl the following week.

Join Brodie for the accompanying class on December 6. Registration in the class is recommended but not required to join this trip:

Rest Stops: There are two covered pagodas with benches along the way.
Sun Exposure: Full, but sun is not common here this time of year!
Amenities (bathrooms and parking): Bathrooms are available at the parking lot
Public transit: None

Distance: 1.5 miles
