Green Leaders Program

Bird Alliance of Oregon is excited to announce a brand new Green Leadership program just for youth age 15-20 from Hacienda CDC. Together, youth will teach kids in their own community, learn about the plants and animals here in the Pacific Northwest, and work as a team to listen to their neighbors and create programs especially for them.

In this program, youth will:

  • Learn about outdoor education and nature in the Pacific Northwest.

  • Explore the ways people who are Latinx, Black, Indigenous and Asian American have worked together to protect green places.

  • Use fun activities to find out what families in your community want and need.

  • Design brand new nature programming for children at Hacienda CDC.

  • Lead outdoor summer activities for kids from Hacienda and other Metro CDCs.

  • Help families explore a new garden space at a Hacienda CDC building.

Green Leaders will earn $300 a week for participating in afterschool sessions from March-June and September-November 2021. In addition, they will gain summer jobs with Bird Alliance of Oregon, earning approximately $4,000 in Summer 2021.
