Nick Hardigg Appointed New Executive Director of Bird Alliance of Oregon

Hardigg will start new position March 23, 2015

PORTLAND, OREGON — After an extensive nationwide search, Nick Hardigg has been appointed as the next executive director of the Bird Alliance of Oregon. He will begin in his new role March 23.

“We are excited to have Nick step into this position of leadership,” said John Osborn, president of the Bird Alliance of Oregon board of directors. “We know he will lead with energy, commitment, and passion for our mission, and will bring a fresh vision to propel the organization successfully into the future.”

Hardigg is currently executive director of the nonprofit Portland Parks Foundation, and he recently co-chaired the Fix Our Parks campaign that helped pass Portland’s $68 million parks bond. Before he joined the Portland Parks Foundation, Hardigg served as executive director for the Alaska Conservation Foundation and director of finance and operations at The Nature Conservancy in Oregon.

“My life’s work has been to protect natural areas and to connect people with them, and the Bird Alliance of Oregon is the rare institution that does both with great impact,” said Hardigg. “Its influence is felt throughout our region and beyond, and I’m thrilled to continue that proud tradition.”

Earlier in his career, Hardigg served as chief of tourism and concessions management at Grand Canyon National Park and Denali National Park. He holds an M.B.A. from the Yale School of Management and a B.S. in environmental science from Wesleyan University, and has more than ten years’ experience on the boards of national nonprofit organizations like the Association of Partners for Public Lands.

Founded in 1902, Bird Alliance of Oregon is one of the oldest conservation organizations in the nation. It promotes the understanding, enjoyment and protection of native birds, other wildlife and their habitats through its conservation and environmental education programs, its 150-acre Nature Sanctuary and Nature Store in northwest Portland, and its Wildlife Care Center.
