January 18-20, 8am–4pm: field trip (you drive!)

On the first day we will carpool en route to Walla Walla, making several stops along the Columbia and Snake Rivers targeting Barrow's Goldeneye.

The highlight will be Saturday where we will get the grand tour of the Walla Walla area by local experts Mike and MerryLynn Denny. We will stop at several parks to see as many species of owls as we can, and all of that during daytime hours. Targets will include Northern Saw-whet Owl and Long-eared Owl.

On our way back we will definitely stop at McNary Wildlife Area, the most reliable place for Harris's Sparrow in Oregon, as we work out way back to Portland.

We will organize carpooling prior to departure. The class room session will feature the owls, but we will also cover owling etiquette, ethics and logistics.

Leader: Stefan Schlick
Fee: $200 (class and instructor)
Excluded: Lodging (you book, you pay), gas (you drive), food.
