Estate and Planned Gifts

When you include Portland Audubon in your will or estate, you’re making an investment in the future of Oregon’s wildlife and wild places. Bequests and planned gifts help Portland Audubon continue to protect wildlife and habitat for years to come.

Many donors who give generously during their lifetimes also wish to leave a lasting legacy by designating all or a portion of their estate. There are many ways to include Portland Audubon in your estate plans, and we would be happy to talk with you about your options in confidence and without obligation.

For more information, please contact Associate Director of Development, Jennifer Bowen at or (971) 222-6132.

Bequests to Consider

  • Will or Trust Bequests:  Name “Audubon Society of Portland” as a beneficiary of your will or trust to receive a specific gift from your estate; to receive all or a portion of what remains of your estate, or to be a contingent beneficiary.
  • Retirement Accounts and Pension Plans: Name “Audubon Society of Portland” as the sole or beneficiary or contingent beneficiary of your retirement account.  Giving through an IRA allows money to go to a non-profit without you having to pay taxes on it.
  • Real Estate: Donate real estate or land holdings to “Audubon Society of Portland.” Your donation might be a priority natural area intended for protection or real estate intended for sale. If you are considering a gift of real estate, please talk with us first to assure that your gift fits within our conservation strategies.
  • Insurance: Name “Audubon Society of Portland” as a beneficiary of your life insurance policy and receive immediate tax advantages. A bequest of insurance enables you to assure a large future gift at a small cost now.
